Aimée-Lee Xu Hsien is a Chinese-Irish-Australian writer and director who approaches comedy like it's drama, and drama like it's comedy. The result is irreverent and playful, and gets you in the feels when you least expect it. She elevates reality through richly detailed production design, bringing a lavish visual style to her work.
Aimée-Lee has directed commercial campaigns for some of the biggest brands in Australia and the world. In 2025 she was invited to London to be a judge at the D&AD Awards.
Aimée-Lee has written and directed two online comedy series, financed by Screen Australia with Screen NSW and Screen Queensland respectively. Her 2024 series 'Pleasant Avenue' stars Heather Mitchell, Ursula Yovich and John Batchelor, and saw Aimée-Lee nominated for an Australian Directors Guild Award for Best Directing. Her follow up series 'Not Russian Anywhere' has been nominated for a 2026 AACTA Award for Best Online Drama or Comedy, and won Best Comedy at the Australian Women's Film Festival 2025.
