Rhett D’Arrietta (previously known as Uncle Friendly) is a director and writer who grew up far from civilization in a Tasmanian wilderness survival camp for kids. With a burning curiosity for the world outside the trenches of his father’s survivalist utopia, Rhett traded his Swiss Army knife for a video camera and moved to the big city.
His music videos for Flight Facilities have attracted tens of millions of views and the opportunity to work with Reggie Watts and Academy Award winning actor Sam Rockwell. His short film 'Markers' was nominated for best film, best director, and best screenplay at the Sydney International Film Festival. in 2016 Apple Music commissioned Rhett to direct one of the handful of music videos the commissioned to launch Apple Music. In 2022 he returned to music videos to direct a promo for musical genius Genesis Owusu and his song 'GTFO'.
In 2020 he directed ‘Play NZ’ for Tourism New Zealand, a campaign that picked up a ton of awards at OneShow and D&AD, the Grand Prix at Spikes, and Gold for Craft in Direction at AWARD Awards.
